The time of the ST as the car of Oppo has ended. The LS is now king.

Such great value. I’ve had an 02 GS with the 4.3 for almost 4 years. They can take a lot of regular abuse.

If you haven’t mastered the throttle yet (need to learn lexus foot-speak) but here’s a cheat sheet:

Quickly putting it to half throttle is like max wide open. I’ve found slowly putting it to the floor is nowhere near actual full throttle. If you want to drive fast, it requires quick input to the pedal.

Jabbing it quickly will “coax” it into faster response. You’ll feel it respond with each stab.

Anything before warming it up locks out power too.

There is so little about this around, thought I’d save you the time.

Thanks! Haven’t really attempted any hard acceleration yet. Plenty of time to experiment.

Will it fit a fish tank actually, more like a kiddie pool

I’ll do a better write up some time in the near future, but it’s a 2002 with 134,000 miles. Interior is in really good shape save driver floor mat. Steering wheel and seat show appropriate levels of wear. But it was a one owner vehicle with all servicing done at a Lexus dealer except the timing belt. I had that done right away.

Actually not as noticable on IS300 and GS300's. Those cars got much faster algorthms. Our 2000 GS300 in “snow” feels more like our GS430 in “ECT Power”. The “faster” throttle makes the 300's feel spunky, but they actually weigh almost 200lbs more.

Definitely just fine, these cars hang out under 2000rpm all day, but if you ever really want to actually get wide open throttle, it’s really good to know how to get the car coaxed into a run. I think a lot of people haven’t really experienced a 4.3 at full throttle until they learn how to get it to do it. But aggressive quick input “awakens” it in a hurry.

Depends. The hard bits do, but the seats are somewhat gelatinous.

I haven’t tried one, but try some of the things I mentioned, might respond to the programming for the drive-by-wire ECTS system.

I got to try the jab and it actually makes a pretty big difference. Its still not fast but I’m not getting overtaken by Sentras anymore.
